Renting short term? What you should know
Anyone renting to holiday guests at Lake Garda has a number of obligations in Italy. We tell you what applies to your flat and take care of the paperwork.
General information, not legal or tax advice. Details depend on the municipality and the type of rental.
- CIR
- The regional code issued through the Veneto ROSS 1000 portal, where arrivals are also reported by the 10th of the following month.
- CIN
- The national identification code, mandatory since 1 January 2025. It must appear in every listing and be displayed outside the property. Without a CIN fines range from 800 to 8,000 €.
- Guest registration
- Within 24 hours of arrival through the police portal Alloggiati Web.
- Tourist tax
- In 2026, 1.20 € in Lazise and 2.00 € in Garda per person and night, children are exempt. The landlord collects and pays it over.
- Safety
- Gas and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers are mandatory.
